What people are saying.

  • This residency is a unique time where your only responsibility is to serve and grow closer to the Lord for three months. It is an amazing opportunity to slow down your life and dedicate these three months to the Lord. The absolute best part about this residency is the community. There is something so special about living in a community with people and diving into scripture with each other all while have a ton of fun every day.

  • Having the opportunity to learn from teachers was such a privilege. They were effective at communicating their knowledge of scripture and encouraging residents to apply biblical principles to our daily lives. Their passion and approachability cultivated a space for questions, learning and growth among residents.

  • I was really grateful for the opportunity to come be a part of this program. To be on this beautiful island, live in community, to learn, and to serve. I really appreciated the small groups, the worship nights, and the teachings. I also got to learn cool skills such as make bread and butters. I think this program is fantastic, and I would recommend this to anyone who loves Jesus and didn’t get much of a Christian education and wants to grow themselves spiritually. I’m so thankful for this opportunity and will be something I will always remember.

  • Wow. Just wow, 3 months of service that I will never forget. It has truly been an honor and blessing to be apart of what God is doing here on the beautiful island of Kauai alongside Makanalani. It has been very powerful in my walk with the Lord to be apart of this Residency in ways that I can never say thank you enough for allowing a Georgia boy to come all the way to Kauai and experience this for 3 months. I'm expecting God to use Makanalani to do even greater things for the Bride of Christ than He has done in these past years through the organization, excited to be apart of this and to keep up to date, the Island needs Jesus, we all do!

  • This residency has been such a positive experience all around! I have greatly benefited from the teaching, community, and the service days. This influential atmosphere has created the ideal environment for growth and transformation in my life.

  • This program has changed how I view acts of service. I came in nervous about serving because it is not something that comes naturally to me, or the way I prefer to show love, but now I am leaving with a heart that wants to serve, whether that be wanting to do everyone’s dishes, or stepping up to do something I don’t have to do. The community has been amazing, & something I have missed post-grad, & these months have been better than some of my times at college! I would recommend this to anyone who is in an in-between stage in their life!

  • Overall the experience was life changing. It was the perfect balance of hard work, and slow paced. The island culture gives space for a more slow-paced I feel. It was a great opportunity to take a break from the constant busyness of today's world. Being here helped me cultivate a quiet space to hear God more clearly. Living with 13 other people is a lot, but it helped me learn to plan out alone time when I need it. Being here helped me better to know who I am. Its easy to be yourself with your family, but taking the mask off in front of other people is daunting. Being here forces that out of me. Having a space to be around God loving people has been so beneficial. I feel more confident in my identity in Christ.
